When prayer begins with honest words

You do not need impressive language to make room for prayer.

Some days, prayer comes easily. On others, a quiet sentence may be all you have. Begin there. The prayer Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:9–13 makes room for worship, daily needs, forgiveness and dependence.

One line at a time

Read the passage slowly. Pause after each line. What are you grateful for? What do you need help with? Whom could you remember in prayer today?

Write a brief response in your own words. You can leave room for questions without forcing an answer. A small, honest beginning is a meaningful place to return to.
