A full day can leave little room for quiet attention. You do not need to begin with a perfect routine. Begin with a passage, a few unhurried minutes and the willingness to listen.
A rhythm you can return to
Choose a time you can return to, even if it is brief. Read the passage twice. On the first reading, notice what happens. On the second, write down a word or question that stays with you.
Resist the urge to make every verse an immediate answer. Read the surrounding passage. Ask who is speaking and what the writer wants the reader to understand. A question carried honestly can be more fruitful than a quick conclusion.
Finish with a simple response: a prayer, a note or one act of kindness. A sustainable rhythm grows through returning, rather than through doing everything at once.
